Nadia Comaneci was born on November 12, 1961, within Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast and she is the only person to be given 10/10 points at an Olympic event. Bela Karalyi discovered Comaneci at the age of six. Comaneci would go on to become Romania's gymnastics coach. Comaneci was the first to compete for time in the 1969 national junior championships. She finished 13th.
